Ingredients
  

  • ½ ripe avocado
  • 1 teaspoon of freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • A sprinkle of red pepper flakes
  • 1 slice of hearty thick-cut whole-grain bread
  • A dash of sea salt

  • Slice your ripe avocado in half. Remove the pit carefully. Scoop out the flesh using a spoon. Place it in a small mixing bowl.
  • Use a fork to mash the avocado until you reach your desired consistency. Some like it smooth, while others prefer a bit of chunkiness. Add the freshly squeezed lemon juice and a sprinkle of sea salt. Mix it well.
  • While you’re working on the avocado, get your toaster or skillet ready. Toast your slice of thick-cut whole-grain bread to your preferred level of crispiness. I usually aim for golden brown.
  • Once your bread is toasted perfectly, it’s time to assemble! Spread the mashed avocado generously over the slice. Don’t be shy – pile it high!
  • Sprinkle a few red pepper flakes on top. This gives that pop of heat we talked about. A little extra sea salt can be added too, for those who love a savory kick.
