Equipment

  • Small bowl,Whisk

Ingredients

  • 2 teaspoons granulated white sugar
  • ¾ teaspoon smoked paprika adds a subtle smokey depth
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon ground turmeric
  • ¼ teaspoon onion powder
  • ¼ teaspoon cornstarch
  • ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper enhances overall seasoning balance
  • 2 tablespoons fine sea salt

Instructions

Step 1: Gather Your Tools

  • First off, make sure you have a small bowl and a whisk or spoon handy. Trust me, you'll want to give it a good mix to blend all the flavors perfectly.

Step 2: Measure the Ingredients

  • Carefully measure out each ingredient. Precision is key here, especially when it comes to the salt.
  • 2 teaspoons of sugar in one section of your bowl.
  • ¾ teaspoon of smoked paprika right next to it.
  • Add ¼ teaspoon each of garlic powder, ground turmeric, onion powder, cornstarch, and black pepper.
  • Finally, 2 tablespoons of fine sea salt go in. This might feel like a lot, but the balance with sugar and spices will surprise you.

Step 3: Combine the Ingredients

  • Now comes the fun part: mixing! Use your whisk or a spoon to stir everything together. You want to ensure all the spices are evenly distributed throughout the salt. Take a moment to smell the aroma; it’s a mix of savory and sweet that'll have your taste buds tingling.

Step 4: Taste (Optional)

  • If you’re feeling adventurous, dab a tiny bit on your finger to taste it. Adjust the seasoning to your preference. Feel free to add a pinch more sugar or a dash more paprika, depending on your preference.

Step 5: Store it Right

  • Once you’re happy with your blend, transfer it to an airtight container. This keeps it fresh and flavorful. You can use a cute spice jar, a repurposed condiment container, or anything that seals well. A label can be handy too, especially when you’re in a hurry.

Notes

Adjust to Your Taste – Don’t hesitate to tweak ingredient amounts. More paprika for deeper flavor? Go for it!
Try Different Salts – Want to experiment? Try using Himalayan pink salt or kosher salt for different textures and flavors.
Chop Fresh Herbs – For a fresh twist, combine this mix with fresh herbs like rosemary or thyme.
Use as a Rub – This seasoning works wonders as a rub on meats before grilling or baking. Just make sure to coat evenly.
Mix into Dips – This copycat is brilliant in dips. Just mix it into sour cream or Greek yogurt for a tasty dip.
